Police have confirmed a large-scale search along the coast near Newquay over the weekend was carried out over concerns for a missing woman.
Devon and Cornwall Police said officers were called at about 7:15pm on Friday 1 May after several of the woman’s belongings were found on cliffs near Porth Joke Beach at Crantock. A spokesperson said: “HM Coastguard and the RNLI lifeboat have conducted extensive land and sea searches alongside police officers and the police helicopter. The woman has not yet been found.” Coastguard teams, lifeboats and a rescue helicopter searched an area between Kelsey Head and Mawgan Porth on Friday evening before the operation was paused in the early hours. Searches resumed on Saturday morning, involving coastguard rescue teams from Newquay and St Agnes, along with police and additional support. Following further searches between East Pentire and Kelsey Head, the operation was again stood down pending further enquiries. Police said on Monday they were continuing efforts to locate the woman and were providing support to her family.
