Newquay boxer Brad Pauls suffered a points defeat to Bradley Goldsmith on the undercard of the Ryan Garner versus Michael Magnesi world title event at St Mary's Stadium in Southampton.
Pauls, known as the "Newquay Bomb", was beaten by unanimous decision after ten rounds at middleweight. Goldsmith was awarded all three judges' scorecards after edging enough of the contest to secure victory. The result comes after Pauls' impressive win over previously unbeaten Shakiel Thompson in March, which saw him claim the vacant IBF International middleweight title. The 33-year-old had been hoping a win would improve his position in the IBF rankings and strengthen his chances of challenging for a world title in the future.
