A community event aimed at bringing people together is set to take place in Newquay this weekend.
Eid in the Park will be held on the Killacourt on Sunday 10 May between 12:30pm and 4pm.
The free event is being hosted by Zaman's and organised by Eshan “Mo” Miah and the Miah family.
Eid is an important celebration in the Muslim calendar, often marked by gatherings with family, food and community events.
Organisers say the afternoon will include food demonstrations, face painting, henna art, Mermaid Hair Wraps and activities led by local groups including Imagine Outdoors Together CIC and Newquay Chess Club.
The event has also received support from Newquay Town Council, the Mayor of Newquay, Newquay BID and John Fernley from the Newest Newquay Facebook group.
The event began several years ago after Mo’s children took time off school to celebrate Eid, prompting curiosity from friends and classmates.
According to organisers, Mo’s wife Naz later invited families to celebrate together at the restaurant, with the gathering growing from around 25 children to almost 70 people the following year.
Last year, the celebration moved to Quintrell Downs Village Hall and attracted more than 300 people.
Organisers say this year’s event is expected to be the biggest yet.
