Signs have been erected at Porth warning of potential reduced bathing water quality in a pool of water on the beach.
The signs, which mention the Environment Agency and Cornwall Council, advise the public not to drink the water and to avoid splashing it into their mouths. The water quality in this naturally forming pool is not monitored, and the signs also recommend washing hands with clean water before eating.
A dead rat has also been discovered close by on the beach, although it is unclear if this is connected to the water quality issue.
Radio Newquay has reached out to Cornwall Council and the Environment Agency for further information. In the meantime, beachgoers are urged to heed the warnings and exercise caution around the affected area.
