Poundstretcher confirms opening date for new Newquay store

Discount retailer Poundstretcher has confirmed its new Newquay store will open at the end of this month.

The company says the new store, located in the former Poundland unit on Bank Street, will officially open its doors on Friday 31 July at 9am.

A spokesperson for the retailer said: "I can confirm that the new Poundstretcher store will open on Bank Street in Newquay on Friday 31st July at 9am."

Earlier this month, Radio Newquay reported that the retailer was in discussions with the landlord over taking on the premises, which has stood empty since Poundland closed its Newquay branch last August.

Founded in 1981, Poundstretcher operates more than 300 stores across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The retailer sells a wide range of discounted products, including food and drink, health and beauty items, household cleaning products, gardening supplies, storage solutions, stationery and children's toys.

To mark the opening, the first 100 customers through the doors will receive a free goody bag.
