Discount retailer Poundstretcher has confirmed it is in discussions about opening a store in Newquay.
Radio Newquay understands it is in talks to take on the former Poundland unit in Bank Street, which has stood empty since the retailer closed its Newquay store last August.
A spokesperson for Poundstretcher said: "I can confirm that we are in conversations with the landlord but can't confirm any final details as yet. We'll let you know when we can."
No timescale has been given for when a decision might be made.
Founded in 1981, Poundstretcher operates more than 300 stores across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The retailer sells a wide range of discounted products, including food and drink, health and beauty items, household cleaning products, gardening supplies, storage solutions, stationery and children's toys.
The company has faced financial challenges in recent years. In June 2026, creditors approved a restructuring deal after proposals aimed at securing the future of the business received the backing of 93% of creditors, avoiding administration and allowing the chain to continue trading.
