Former Walkabout in Newquay to reopen as Rattler Beach House

The former Walkabout venue in Newquay is set to reopen under new ownership as Rattler Beach House, marking the first venue dedicated to the Cornish cyder brand.

The Australian-themed bar is being transformed by Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm, with the family-run business saying the venue will become the home of its Rattler brand.

Healeys said Newquay was chosen because more Rattler is sold in the town than anywhere else in Cornwall.

Managing Director Joe Healey said the new venue had been designed as a relaxed space for locals and visitors.

"Rattler has always been about bringing people together and celebrating everything that's great about Cornwall, so opening Rattler Beach House feels like a natural next step for the brand," he said.

"We wanted to create somewhere relaxed, welcoming and full of character – somewhere you can head after the beach, meet your mates, enjoy great food, watch live sport and discover everything Rattler has to offer."

Healeys, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, has grown from a farming business into one of Cornwall's best-known drinks producers and already operates hospitality venues including Gylly Beach Cafe and Fives Cyder House in Falmouth.

Mr Healey said the opening represented a positive investment in Cornwall's hospitality industry despite the challenges facing the sector.

"At a time when many hospitality businesses continue to face rising costs and challenging trading conditions, our new venue opening represents a notable vote of confidence in Cornwall's economy and coastal towns," he said.

The company said Rattler Beach House would continue to develop its offering in partnership with customers and the local community after opening later this summer.
