A new president has taken over at Newquay Lions Club following its annual Presidential Handover.
Members gathered on Sunday to thank outgoing president Barb May, who has led the club for the past two years, overseeing fundraising events, community projects and charitable initiatives across the town. Reflecting on her time in the role, Ms May said: "Serving as President of Newquay Lions has been a privilege. I'm incredibly proud of what we've achieved together and deeply grateful for the support of our members and the wider community. I know the club is in very safe hands as Andy takes the lead." Andy Hannan has now been appointed President for the 2026 to 2028 term. He said: "I'm honoured to step into the role of President and excited for the next two years ahead. Newquay Lions is built on teamwork, service, and community spirit, and I look forward to continuing that tradition with our fantastic members." The club has also appointed Pete Harrison as Vice President. Mr Harrison said: "It's a pleasure to take on the role of Vice President. I'm looking forward to supporting Andy and helping the club deliver even more for the people of Newquay in the coming year." The handover event was hosted by Sandy Lodge and included a wine tasting organised by Ms May, giving members an opportunity to celebrate the club's achievements over the past year. Newquay Lions said it remained committed to supporting local causes through fundraising, community events and volunteer work across the town.
