A property in Newquay has been issued with a second closure order, making it illegal for anyone to enter the address.
Devon & Cornwall Police said the residential property on East Street had become a hub for persistent anti-social behaviour, prompting officers to take further action.
A full three-month closure order has now been granted, following a partial closure order issued at the same address in October 2025. Police said the earlier order restricted access to the tenant only, but was not complied with.
Officers said the behaviour continued to have a significant impact on nearby residents, with reports of constant shouting, large gatherings, noise disturbances, swearing, suspected drug use, and rubbish and animal faeces being left in and around the area.
Inspector Steve Johnson said:
“The location had been a focal point for much community tension because of the ASB associated with it and those occupying it, which had a real impact on the wellbeing of local people.
“The order served last year meant only the tenant was allowed to enter and reside at the property, but after this was not complied with, we had to escalate our approach.
“By working with local residents and partner agencies we have been able to remove the tenants, close the premises and protect residents from further harm.
“I hope this shows local people the importance of their reports and that our teams will not stand by and let this behaviour like this continue.”
Police said the tenant affected by the closure order has been signposted to relevant support services while the order is in place.
The order was granted on Tuesday 27 January following an investigation by the Newquay Neighbourhood Police team and Cornwall Council’s anti-social behaviour caseworker.
Anyone experiencing anti-social behaviour is being encouraged to report concerns through the police website. If a crime is taking place, people should call 999.
Support for victims of crime is also available through Victim Care Devon and Cornwall and Victim Support.
