Rail line to be closed for two weeks

The Newquay to Par rail line is set to close for two weeks to allow new track to be laid as part of the Mid Cornwall Metro project.

In correspondence seen by Radio Newquay, GWR and Network Rail confirm that the line will close from Monday 18th November until Sunday, 1st December.

The closure is to enable new track to be laid to allow trains to run to the the reinstated second platform at Newquay railway station.

This is part of the Mid Cornwall Metro scheme, scheduled for completion in 2026, which will create a direct rail link between Newquay and Falmouth.

During this period, replacement buses will operate between St Austell and Newquay, thought most will not call at Par

Additionally, it is understood that some car park spaces at Newquay station will remain unavailable until Friday, 20th December, as Network Rail sets up a site compound.

The GWR website also states that further work will affect trains for Newquay in February and March 2025.
