A national para surfing roadshow aimed at introducing people with disabilities to the sport is set to return in 2026, with a stop planned in Newquay.
The initiative, led by Surfing England and supported by surf clothing brand Saltrock, will offer a series of taster sessions across the country.
Organisers say more than 70 new surfers with disabilities took part last year, and they hope to build on that success with an expanded programme.
Participants will be able to take part in coached sessions led by Team England coaches and para surfing athletes, with no previous experience required. All equipment, including wetsuits and surfboards, will be provided.
The Newquay event is scheduled for Saturday 12 September, alongside other dates in Bournemouth, Bristol, Saltburn and South Shields.
A £10 fee is required to secure a place, with proceeds supporting the development of new para surf clubs across England. Attendees will be invited to join local clubs following the roadshow.
Sessions are expected to run throughout the day, with surfers asked to arrive an hour before their allocated slot. Each session will last around 90 minutes, including approximately an hour in the water.
Organisers say they will aim to make the events as accessible as possible, including the use of beach wheelchairs to assist access to the water.
Saltrock’s Marketing Manager, Sarah Loder, said:
“Saltrock is incredibly proud to continue our partnership with Surfing England and to be the headline sponsor of the 2026 Para Surfing Roadshow. This collaboration aligns so strongly with our values of being authentic and community-minded. It’s about real people, real experiences, and creating space for everyone to feel welcome in the water. Our attitude has always been about inspiring people to get outside, try new things, and embrace adventure, and the Para Surfing Roadshow brings that spirit to life in the most meaningful way. We’re excited for another year supporting adaptive surfers, and helping this amazing community continue to grow.”
People interested in taking part are being asked to sign up in advance through Surfing England.
