Police have revealed the reason behind a large emergency services presence in Newquay over the weekend.
Devon and Cornwall Police said officers were called to Hawkins Road at around 11.30pm on Saturday 1 August following reports of a disturbance.
The force said it was reported that "possible gunshots had been heard and a dog chain brandished as a weapon following a verbal disagreement" as two people walked past a property.
Armed officers attended the scene and a scene guard was put in place while enquiries were carried out.
Police said officers recovered a number of air weapons.
A local man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
He has since been released on police bail while enquiries continue.
