Newquay Minor Injury Unit to reduce opening hours over summer

Newquay Minor Injury Unit will temporarily reduce its opening hours over the summer, according to Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

The trust said the unit will continue to operate six days a week but will now close two hours earlier, at 6:00pm instead of 8:00pm.

The unit will be open from 8:00am to 6:00pm, Thursday to Tuesday, and will remain closed on Wednesdays.

During the week of the Boardmasters festival, the unit will operate seven days a week from 8:00am to 6:00pm.

Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust said the revised hours have been chosen to reflect the busiest times for patients.

In a statement, the trust said: "We know how important the unit is to local people and visitors and have prioritised maintaining a six-day-a-week service.

"By making a planned adjustment, we can focus our staff on the times when the service is busiest, maintain service continuity, and reduce unplanned closures.

"This approach supports our staff, while ensuring patient care and safety remain our top priority."

The trust said the proactive approach is designed to help maintain a safe and reliable service while reducing the risk of unplanned closures.
