A Newquay woman who was diagnosed with breast cancer during the Covid lockdown is bringing a new festival event to the town.
Breast Fest takes place on the Killacourt on Saturday from 12–6pm, with live music, a kids’ workout, dancing, drinks, and a charity auction and raffle. The event will raise money for Cornwall Cancer Research Charity, with all proceeds going to support local cancer research.
It’s been organised by Jemma Sleeman and her friend Danae, who wanted to create a positive community event to raise funds and awareness. Jemma, who works at Hybrid on Bank Street, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020 and is currently taking part in a clinical trial following a recurrence.
She says the day is about bringing people together and giving back to the unit supporting her treatment.
