Newquay Railway Station car park will close for around a week this month as part of improvement works linked to the Mid Cornwall Metro project.
Cormac, working alongside Great Western Railway, says upgrades will include new dropped kerbs for accessibility, replacement bollards, electrical ducting and a full resurfacing of the car park with new road markings.
For most of the programme, the car park will remain open. However, it will "need to close" from Monday 11 May for approximately one week to allow resurfacing work to be carried out safely.
Cormac says: "We appreciate that this brief closure may cause some inconvenience and would like to thank station users, local residents and businesses for their understanding while these important upgrades are carried out."
The works form part of the £56.8 million Mid Cornwall Metro scheme, largely funded through the Government’s Levelling Up Fund.
The project aims to introduce an hourly direct train service between Falmouth, Penryn, Truro, St Austell and Newquay.
Improvements as part of the larger project have included the reintroduction of a second platform at Newquay station, upgrades at Par and a new passing loop at Tregoss Moor to increase train frequency.
The scheme also aims to improve access to stations along the route by encouraging travel on foot and by cycle.
