Newquay Health Centre is set to get four new consulting rooms as it expands to meet growing demand.
Patients and residents are being invited to a meeting on Wednesday to hear about its proposed renovation plans which include converting the medical records room in the roof space into administrative offices. This would free up ground-floor areas for clinical use.
A spokesperson said the building work is expected to take around 12 to 15 weeks. “We are converting the loft space to admin offices and the admin offices will then be converted into consulting rooms,” they said. “We will gain at least four consulting rooms, one existing room will be made larger, with a larger waiting room and better disabled access.”
The proposal comes after earlier plans to bring both of the town’s GP surgeries under one roof were abandoned.
The meeting takes place from 6-7pm and will be held alongside the centre’s Patient Participation Group at the centre.
