Newquay AFC Ladies are through to the next round of the Mason King Cup after beating Dropship FC at Godolphin Football Ground on Tuesday evening.
The match, played at Godolphin Football Ground, saw Newquay produce a dominant attacking display, with multiple players contributing to the scoresheet.
Rosie S led the way with four goals, while Emily added a hat-trick. Bobbie scored twice, and Lucy, Liz, Keira and Ruth also found the net. An own goal completed the tally on what was described as a strong all-round performance.
Newquay settled quickly after an early breakthrough and went on to play expansive, attacking football, with effective movement and teamwork throughout.
Ladies manager Lucie Beesley said: “It was a great night of football and I’m really proud of the girls. We scored early and played some brilliant team football - some of the build-up play leading to the goals was excellent. Credit to Dropship, they were determined from start to finish and didn’t make it easy for us. Everyone who came on gave everything, even in unfamiliar positions.”
The club also thanked Dropship FC for making the midweek trip and praised the spirit in which the match was played, along with supporters who attended or followed the game via a live stream.
Newquay AFC Ladies will play their next Mason King Cup fixture on 10 May. Before that, they return to league action on Sunday with a home match against Redruth at Mount Wise, kicking off at 14:00.
