New colour changing uplighting has been installed at Newquay Harbour, transforming the iconic site with a striking visual enhancement that celebrates the area’s natural beauty.
The dramatic new lights illuminate the cliffs behind the harbour businesses, creating a captivating display that can be seen from across the town’s coastline.
Mark Warren, Newquay BID Manager, says they wanted to celebrate the "stunning harbour".
"Adding lighting to the cliffs creates a truly magical display and can be seen from all around the coast across Newquay. We will continue to add lighting, especially around key times like Christmas, to really celebrate our fabulous Newquay Harbour," he said.
Local businesses are already noticing the difference. Amie Bradshaw, General Manager at The Boathouse, said:
"The lights look great across the harbour, creating a stunning visual effect. This has enhanced the lovely evening atmosphere, our customers are welcoming this new addition to the harbour."
The project is part of a wider initiative to enhance the town’s appearance and promote Newquay as a vibrant, year-round destination for residents and visitors alike. The lighting is a permanent feature and can be adapted to celebrate seasonal events and special occasions.
The work has been led by Newquay BID and funded through the Town Deal, with support from harbour businesses and the Harbour Master’s office.
