New facilities officially opened at Treviglas Academy in Newquay

New facilities at Treviglas Academy in Newquay have been officially opened during a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The refurbishment has been led by The Roseland Multi Academy Trust and includes new and upgraded learning spaces across the site.

The ceremony was carried out by Floyd Steadman, in the presence of the Trust’s chief executive Chris Challis, Newquay MP Noah Law, and representatives from Cornwall Council, alongside education leaders, construction partners and members of the community.

Guests were shown around the site by student leaders, visiting facilities including a new humanities block, refurbished library, lecture theatre, conference room and food technology rooms. The redeveloped quad area, on the site of the former community school swimming pool, was also showcased.

The event included an acoustic performance by a Year 8 student, as well as a flash mob inspired by the school’s recent production of Macbeth.

Headteacher James Rogers said: “Today is a proud moment for our entire school community. These facilities are already making a real difference to the daily experience of our students. At Treviglas Academy, we have always had heart, soul and amazing students. Now we finally have the environment and buildings to match our ambitions for our students, families and wider community.”

Mr Steadman said: “It was a pleasure to return to Treviglas Academy. The new facilities are very impressive and will undoubtedly enhance the overall student experience. My challenge to students is to make the most of these opportunities and strive to achieve their full potential.”

The improvements are intended to support both education and wider community use, with further development work already under way.
