Man charged with murder after discovery of human remains

A man has been charged with murder after human remains believed to be those of a missing person were found in Sticker near St Austell.

James Desborough, aged 39, of Old Oak Woods, Lower Sticker, has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in court on Thursday (10 July).

Desborough is charged with the murder of 43-year-old Daniel Coleman, from St Austell, between 2 June and 7 July. Mr Coleman’s next-of-kin have been made aware of the development.

Specialist forensic officers are continuing to carry out enquiries at a site in Sticker as part of investigation.

Detective Superintendent Jon Bancroft said: “We are continuing with a forensic examination of the scene which is being carried out slowly and methodically.

“Our teams of officers and staff are being assisted by the National Crime Agency expert group and Home Office-approved scientists.

“A significant police presence will remain in the Sticker area as we progress our enquiries expeditiously.

“I continue to ask that people do not speculate on social media about this case.”

A woman aged in her 30s from Newquay, who was arrested last week on suspicion of murder, remains on police bail while enquiries continue.
