A Newquay school teacher has completed an extraordinary challenge to support the family of one of his pupils.
Mark Lloyd, Headteacher at St Mewan Primary School in St Austell, has been running a half marathon each morning before work this week, setting off at 5am and finishing by 7am. Today, he finished his fourth and final run - covering the equivalent of two full marathons over four days.
Mark is fundraising for the family of seven-year-old Harlyn, a pupil at his school who was diagnosed with an incredibly rare and aggressive, incurable cancer. She initially responded well to treatment but now her symptoms have returned.
A fundraising page has been set up to help Harlyn's family take time off work and be together. However, they are currently unable to access any grants or funding while still facing regular bills and mortgage payments.
To ease this financial burden and allow them to make the most of their time together, the team at St Mewan School has been fundraising on their behalf. So far they've raised over £12,000. You can donate to the fundraiser here.
