The 2026 English National Surfing Championships will go ahead this week, with organisers confirming a revised one-day format for the Open (men’s) and Women’s divisions.
Surfing England said the event will now take place on Friday 10 April at Fistral Beach, making use of a short window of favourable conditions.
Originally planned as a three-day competition, the schedule has been condensed into a single day, with a fast-paced format introduced to ensure the championships can be completed.
Organisers say England’s top surfers will still compete for national titles, with multiple peaks expected to be used during earlier rounds to maximise wave opportunities.
The Under-18 and Under-16 divisions will be moved to an official backup window, with those competitions set to run on one of the following dates: 24, 25 or 26 April. Final confirmation of the exact day will be made based on conditions to ensure the best possible platform for those divisions.
Spectators are being encouraged to attend, with an early start expected as competitors take to the water.
