Choirs from across the UK and beyond are set to arrive in the Duchy for a long weekend of music as the Cornwall International Male Choral Festival returns.
The biennial event will run from Friday 1 May to Sunday 3 May, featuring concerts and performances in a range of venues across the Duchy.
Newquay will once again play a central role in the festival, with a number of visiting choirs staying in the town and performing across the weekend. Organisers say people may encounter performances taking place in a variety of settings throughout the area.
Evening concerts are planned for all three days of the festival, alongside daytime events, some of which are free to attend. A full schedule is available on the festival’s website.
Several official events are due to take place in and around Newquay.
On Friday at 7pm, Newquay Male Voice Choir will host a regional concert at St Michael’s Church. They will be joined by choirs from Cirencester, Minehead and Weybridge. Tickets are priced at £10 and are available in advance via Visit Truro or on the door, subject to availability.
On Saturday from 1pm, performances will take place at Healeys Cyder Farm, where Oll an Gwella will host visiting choirs from Minehead, Buckinghamshire, Sussex and Surrey.
On Sunday, also from 1pm, Newquay Male Voice Choir will host further performances on the Killacourt, with choirs from Peterborough, Minehead and Weybridge taking part.
These daytime events are expected to offer a more informal atmosphere, giving audiences the chance to experience a wide range of music in outdoor and community settings.
