Unbeaten Newquay AFC continue to lead the South West Peninsula Premier East after a 2-1 comeback victory over Millbrook.
Millbrook took an early lead just five minutes in, but Callam McConie equalized shortly before half-time. Phil Lowry secured the win with a goal 20 minutes from time.
Shaun Middleton’s side remains one of only two unbeaten teams in the division, alongside Dobwalls.
In the St Piran League, St Mawgan were edged out 4-3 by St Dominick in a thrilling seven-goal match, while St Newlyn East maintained their perfect start to the Division One East season with a commanding 6-2 win over Liskeard Athletic Reserves.
Ross London netted twice, with Jay Manning, Chris Sturgess, Jake Watson, and Sonny Summers-Evans also finding the back of the net.
St Merryn defeated Indian Queens 5-2, and Freddie Murley scored twice as St Erme & Godolphin FC beat Week St Mary 4-1.
Newquay’s third team secured a 6-2 victory over Launceston Development, while Newquay Reserves advanced in the Evely Cup with a 5-2 extra-time win over Boscastle. Goonhavern Athletic fell 4-3 to Holman Sports Club.
In rugby, after their opening day win against neighbours Perranporth, Newquay Hornets were defeated 26-12 at Helston.
Perranporth bounced back from their loss with a 27-5 victory over Wadebridge Camels.
Benjamin Jones scored two tries, with Oliver Roots adding three conversions.
Newquay Hockey Club returned to action with a friendly against Penzance.
Rosie Meier scored her maiden goal for the first team, with Kat Redd doubling Newquay’s lead.
Penzance pulled one back, but Newquay held firm to take the win.
They now prepare for another friendly against Plymouth-based Ocean City next weekend.
