Price hat-trick leads Newquay sporting weekend

Louis Price scored a perfect hat-trick as Newquay AFC reached the next round of the FA Vase, while there were also wins for Newquay Reserves and St Columb Major, a team podium for Newquay Running Club's runners and success at Newquay Golf Club’s RNLI fundraisers.

Price scored with his left foot, right foot and head as the Peppermints beat Cullompton Rangers 6-1.

Callam McOnie, Alex Cole and Tim Nixon scored Newquay’s other three goals.

St Mawgan had a more difficult afternoon in the South West Peninsula League, losing 5-1 to St Austell.

Newquay AFC Reserves remain top of the St Piran League Premier Division following a hard-fought 1-0 victory at North Petherwin.

Freddie Collins scored the only goal of the match.

Unbeaten St Columb Major also progressed in the Cornwall Junior Cup after recording a 4-0 home win over Bodmin Town.

Jack Scott, Jamie Seery, Josh Dingle and Alex Rodgers were all on target.

In athletics, Newquay Running Club competed in the Treggy Seven, the latest race in the Cornish Grand Prix series.

Stella Gardener was the first Newquay runner home, finishing in 55 minutes despite stopping during the race to help another competitor.

Her performance helped Newquay’s women secure third place in the team standings.

At Newquay Golf Club, Susan Phillips, Debbie Cain and Tracey Morgan won the Ladies Open held as part of the club’s fundraising activities for the RNLI.

Chris Quinn won the Men’s Charity event with 45 points.
