Mayor thanks Newquay children for helping create town’s newest play park

Newquay’s mayor has thanked children in the town for helping to shape Newquay's newest play park.

Cllr Drew Creek paid tribute to youngsters who contributed their ideas to the new £150,000 facility at Mount Wise Gardens, which was officially opened on Wednesday.

The park was built over the summer by playground specialist Wicksteed following consultation with the community, including children from local schools.

Newquay Town Council said it features modern, accessible and inclusive equipment designed to provide play opportunities for children of different ages and abilities.

Work began in May as part of a wider regeneration of Mount Wise Gardens.

The play park represents an investment of £150,000, funded through contributions from Boardmasters and the Community Infrastructure Levy paid by developers.

Cllr Creek, who has long wanted to see the area transformed, officially opened the new facility before giving Radio Newquay a tour of the park.

We also spoke to some of the children whose ideas helped make the new play area possible.
