Newquay AFC remain top of South West Peninsula Premier West thanks to a hard-fought 3-1 win over visiting Holsworthy on Saturday.
The Peppermints hold a one-point advantage over Wendron United, with two games in hand, after goals from Cam Turner, Lucas Potts, and Louis Price extended their unbeaten start to the season to nine games.
St Mawgan returned to winning ways in the St Piran Premier Division East, beating Gunnislake 3-1, while there were Division One East wins for Newquay Reserves and St Newlyn East, whose 4-3 home win against Looe Town keeps them at the top of the table.
St Mawgan Reserves also triumphed, beating Delabole United 4-1 to progress to the next round of the Percy Stephens Cup. Goonhavern Athletic were emphatic 15-2 winners at home to St Day Thirds, with ten of their strikes coming in the second half alone.
Newquay Hockey Club made it two wins from two in West Women’s Division One South, beating hosts Shepton Mallet 5-1, with Kat Redd netting four goals. Leanne Manley completed the scoring.
Their performance follows a 6-2 triumph against ISCA on the opening day of the new season, placing them third in the early standings, behind Caradon and Exeter.
Newquay’s second team were narrowly beaten 2-1 at University of Plymouth, while their third team won 2-0 over Caradon Fourths at Truro’s Penair School.
