The final day of a 70-mile charity walk in support of Newquay Foodbank is under way.
Personnel from RAF St Mawgan began the three-day route across Cornwall on Tuesday to raise money and awareness of food poverty in local communities.
The team has been walking in costume, dressed as different food items, to draw attention to the fundraiser and encourage donations.
They are expected to be near Trevemper roundabout in Newquay at about 13:30 (Thursday), before heading to the foodbank’s headquarters at Prow Park. The group will then continue on to RAF St Mawgan to complete the challenge.
Supporters have been encouraged to come out along the route to cheer on the walkers and help spread awareness.
Organisers said the initiative was about more than just the distance covered.
“This walk is about more than covering miles, it’s about standing with our community, raising awareness of a growing need, and doing something positive to support Newquay Foodbank,” they said.
Donations can be made via the team’s JustGiving page by searching for RAF St Mawgan fundraiser for Newquay Foodbank.
