Newquay’s cricketers were again denied the chance to complete a match as rain brought an early end to their County Division One clash against Falmouth.
The town’s first team had posted 239 for 8 from 49 overs before the weather intervened. Adam Cocking top scored with 72, while Tommy Rodda finished unbeaten on 49.
In Division Five West, St Newlyn East secured a seven-wicket victory over Mount Ambrose.
After bowling their opponents out for 77, St Newlyn East reached 81 for 3 in just 16.4 overs.
Rich Bradder impressed with the ball, taking 4 wickets for 15 runs, while Matthew Shapland recorded figures of 3 for 19.
In football, St Newlyn East bounced back from their midweek defeat to St Teath with a convincing 5-0 win over Pensilva on Saturday.
Newquay AFC thirds, meanwhile, suffered disappointment in the Percy Stephens Cup final after Helston Athletic Old Boys secured a 1-0 victory at Boscawen Park.
