Newquay AFC Veterans will contest the Cornwall Sunday Cup final this weekend, as they take on Gunnislake Veterans at Launceston Football Club.
The match kicks off at 10:30am on Sunday and marks a second consecutive final appearance for the side, who lifted the trophy last season. It caps another strong cup run for a squad that has become one of the most consistent within the club. Jason Waterman, Director of Football at Newquay AFC, said: “Some of these lads have been part of this club for a long time. They just love playing football and it shows. Back-to-back cup finals is a great achievement.” Veterans manager Steve Capeling added: “It's a great group to manage. They work hard, they care about the club, and they want to win. We know what it takes now - Sunday’s about going and doing it again.” Meanwhile, Newquay’s first team are also in action this weekend. They are at home at Mount Wise on Saturday, where they face Brislington, with kick-off at 3pm in the Wsatern League. There will also be entertainment off the pitch, with the Newquay Samba Band set to help build the atmosphere.
