Newquay AFC are preparing for what could be a defining moment in the club's recent history, as they face Wendron United in a fixture that could seal promotion to the Western Football League.
Victory or even a draw under the lights at Mount Wise Stadium would see the Peppermints rise to step 5 football and cap off a season of impressive progress. Kick-off is at 7.30pm (Thursday 17 April), with turnstiles and the clubhouse opening from 5.00pm.
The club is also getting ready to host a bumper crowd, with over 300 groundhoppers expected through the gates as part of the Ground Hop UK schedule. That figure, combined with home supporters, could see attendance top 1,000 tonight.
Chairman Jack Hunter said the fixture represents more than just the final score. This isn’t just about what happens over 90 minutes, he told us. It’s about how far we’ve come, and how much this club means to the town.
To mark the occasion, the club has teamed up with Wax Events, who will be offering matchday hospitality, and fans can also pick up new Peppermints merchandise on sale at the club shop. Wax are taking over all hospitality at the ground from next season.
Tickets are priced at £6 for adults and £4 for concessions. Fans are encouraged to arrive early, enjoy the build-up, and be part of what could become a historic evening for Newquay football.
