The Environment Agency has ruled out "an ongoing pollution incident at Porth Beach."
It follows reports from Radio Newquay listeners of two possible discharges in the small stream near the former car park on Monday.
A spokesperson said that “We are not aware of an ongoing pollution incident at Porth Beach, Newquay, today. A minor, intermittent, unknown pollution discharge was noted by a member of the public yesterday and reported to us this morning but this is believed to have now passed."
One eyewitness told us it "could be dangerous to beach users and dogs. When I was there, children, adults, and dogs were walking through the stream."
The Environment Agency advises beach users to check the SWIMFO website for the latest bathing water quality updates. Pollution incidents can be reported via their free 24-hour Incident Hotline on 0800 807060.
