Emergency services, including the coastguard rescue helicopter, were called to an incident in Newquay on Tuesday evening.

Devon and Cornwall Police said officers were called to the Cliff Road area at about 8.35pm on 9 June following reports of criminal damage to a door and a plant pot.

A spokesperson said officers attended and a woman was later located in the area.

Police said that, due to concerns for the woman's safety, HM Coastguard, the fire service and paramedics were also called to the scene.

The incident was resolved safely at about 12.40am on Wednesday and the woman was taken to hospital.

Police said the woman was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and remained in custody while enquiries continued.

Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team and Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 924 were among the emergency services involved.

A spokesperson for Newquay Coastguard said: "The complicated and lengthy incident was eventually safely resolved with the help of the fire service aerial ladder platform from Truro.

"Thank you to all agencies involved last night, a great demonstration of effective teamwork."

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust said: "We were called at 8.48pm on Tuesday 9 June to an incident in Newquay and we sent a double-crewed land ambulance and an operations officer to the scene."
