A Newquay-based children’s mental health charity is calling on people across the UK to take part in the Get On Board national fundraiser.
The Wave Project is open for registrations for the second Get on Board campaign during Mental Health Awareness Week, from 12th to 18th May 2025. Supporters are invited to take on board-based challenges to raise money for the charity’s Surf Therapy programmes, which support young people struggling with their mental health.
Participants are encouraged to use any kind of board – from surfboards and skateboards to chopping boards and board games – to take on a personal challenge or group activity. The aim is to boost confidence and connection while raising awareness and vital funds.
A spokesperson for The Wave Project said: “We want to encourage everyone this week to either take on a solo challenge to boost your self-confidence or bring your community together to connect! Right now, 500,000 children and young people are on waiting lists for NHS mental health services. Many more feel unable to reach out for support. They need us now more than ever!”
The charity is partnering with Dryrobe® for the campaign and will be offering prizes to top fundraisers.
To get involved, participants are encouraged to set up a JustGiving page before 11th May and share their journey on social media using the hashtag #GetOnBoardWithTWP.
