A woman from Newquay has been issued a £500 Fixed Penalty Notice for fly-tipping.
It's after she was caught on CCTV dumping garden waste from her property in a children’s play park.
In a separate case, a man paid a £1,000 Fixed Penalty Notice after dumping parts of a converted bus in a layby in West Cornwall. The incident, which happened in March, was witnessed by a Cornwall Council employee.
Cornwall Council said that in both cases, failure to pay the penalties would have resulted in court action. Councillor Thalia Marrington, cabinet member for Community Safety and Public Health, said: “Cornwall is such a beautiful part of the world and we must all play our part in keeping it that way. There is no excuse for fly-tipping.
“Where we do have evidence of fly-tipping or littering, we will do our best to track down those responsible.”
