The Salvation Army in Newquay has launched its annual Christmas Present Appeal, aiming to bring festive cheer to families and individuals who might otherwise go without this Christmas.
The charity is collecting new, unwrapped toys, games, gifts and toiletry sets suitable for all ages - from babies to older teenagers. Donations will be distributed in the run-up to Christmas to local families referred through schools and agencies, as well as those who self-refer directly.
Collection points can be found at Argos (within Sainsbury’s), Newquay Morrisons, The Entertainer store in Truro, and at The Salvation Army Hall on Crantock Street, opposite the cinema, on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
Martyn Coles, Lead at the Newquay Salvation Army, said: “We recognise that with the cost of living, bills are going up and people’s income isn’t...It’s a real privilege to walk alongside people all through the year and especially at Christmas time.”
He added that it’s important for donations to be unwrapped, allowing families the opportunity to wrap presents themselves. The charity is also welcoming donations of wrapping paper.
Those seeking support can contact the Salvation Army confidentially by email at newquay@salvationarmy.co.uk, or speak to local schools which can make referrals.
Radio Newquay is proud to support this year’s Christmas Present Appeal and encourages listeners to donate if they can.
