Two childhood friends from Newquay have embarked on an inspiring mission to transform washed-up seaweed into sustainable plant fertilisers.
Daniel Searle and Jack Parr, founders of Aqua Culture, were inspired by a stroll along Gyllyngvase Beach in Falmouth, where they began to wonder about the fate of beached seaweed. Their curiosity led them to discover Cornwall’s rich history of using seaweed as a natural fertiliser.
With guidance from Cornwall Council, Aqua Culture has developed a process to collect and repurpose seaweed, ensuring their products are 100% natural and environmentally friendly. The company’s ethos extends beyond fertilisers, with regular beach cleans reflecting their commitment to a zero-waste, circular business model.
