A police crackdown on speeding drivers outside Nansledan School on the first day of term has resulted in two motorists receiving court summons.
Devon and Cornwall Police’s Road Safety Team carried out speed checks as pupils were arriving at the school on Monday.
In a statement, police said: “Despite the weather conditions, some drivers were ignoring the 30mph speed limit, with some travelling well in excess of the limit. Two drivers will be receiving court summons due to the speed they were doing.”
“There is no excuse for excess speed on a road past a primary school, but in the road conditions we have seen today these kind of speeds are totally unacceptable.”
The Road Safety Team has vowed to continue regular visits to school locations and has warned drivers to keep their speed down when driving near educational establishments.
