A search for a person reported to be in the water in Newquay was suspended on Saturday evening, the Coastguard has said.
The Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team, along with volunteers from Padstow, both of the RNLI Newquay lifeboats, and the Newquay Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 924, were tasked shortly after 17:00 following reports of a casualty in the water near Great Western Beach.
A Coastguard spokesperson said: “Once on scene all assets commenced a comprehensive search of the area.”
At around 19:15, a second incident was reported, with the Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team and Newquay lifeboats asked to assist police with a casualty on Porth Island.
Half of the Coastguard team was deployed to the second incident, while the remainder stayed at Great Western. All assets sent to Porth Island were later stood down once the incident was resolved. The St Agnes Coastguard Search and Rescue Team was also tasked to assist.
The search at Great Western was eventually suspended pending further enquiries.
The Coastguard has reminded the public that if they see someone in difficulty along the coast, they should dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
