Attraction partners with Cornwall Air Ambulance to support fundraising

Lappa Valley’s Ben Harding and Keith Southwell meet members of the charities’ aircrew and medical teams in front of Cornwall Air Ambulances newest helicopter “Duke of Cornwall”

Popular attraction Lappa Valley has announced a new partnership with Cornwall Air Ambulance, aimed at raising awareness of the charity’s work and supporting fundraising efforts.

Cornwall Air Ambulance carries out around 1,000 to 1,200 missions each year across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, responding to emergencies including cardiac arrests and road traffic collisions. The charity must raise more than £8 million annually to keep the service operating, as it receives no regular government or NHS funding for its day-to-day work.

Keith Southwell, owner of Lappa Valley, said: “We’re incredibly proud to name Cornwall Air Ambulance as Lappa Valley’s Charity Partner of the Year. Their crews are there for our community on the very worst days, delivering lifesaving care when minutes matter and when reaching Cornwall by road simply isn’t fast enough.”

As part of the partnership, a charity day will take place at Lappa Valley, based near St Newlyn East, on 14 March. Admission fees will be waived, with visitors instead invited to make a donation to Cornwall Air Ambulance. The charity’s volunteers will staff the ticket office, with all proceeds going directly towards supporting the service.

Cornwall Air Ambulance will also host activities during the day alongside Lappa Valley’s usual attractions, with visitors able to meet the charity’s mascot, Aircrew Andy. More details about the partnership and the charity day can be found on the Lappa Valley website.
