Titan the Robot will make a special appearance at Newquay’s annual Zombie Crawl when the event returns this October half term.
The world-famous mechanical character, which was originally created in Newquay, will feature in the town’s Halloween celebrations on Saturday 25 October, as part of the week-long Spooky Newquay programme.
The event, described as the biggest free family Halloween celebration in Cornwall, will include rolling workshops across the town from 11am, including face painting, costume-making, dance sessions, circus skills and storytelling. The Zombie Crawl itself will set off from Station Parade on Cliff Road at 3pm, with thousands expected to take part in the procession through the town centre.
The week of activities runs from 25 October to 2 November and will also include a Halloween trail around Newquay, shop window displays, themed offers from local businesses and a Spooky Trail in Trenance Park.
Mark Warren, Manager of Newquay Business Improvement District (BID), said the event was an important boost for local traders.
“This event is such an important date in our town calendar. It brings thousands of people into Newquay on what would normally be a quiet weekend,” he said.
Mr Warren also told Radio Newquay that many businesses have reported it has been a “really good summer” in the town, and he is now looking ahead to a busy autumn with events such as Spooky Newquay helping to extend the season.
The programme is being organised by Newquay BID with support from Experience Newquay, part-funded by Cornwall Council’s Good Growth Fund through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
Further details about the workshops and events will be published on the Newquay BID and Love Newquay websites closer to the date.
