A group of people, including children, have been targeted by rocks thrown from a cliff edge in Newquay.
The incident on Sunday afternoon came to light after local guide Karl Fice-Thomson, who runs BIG FT's Rockpool Adventures, shared a video online describing how a group of youths hurled stones at his rock pooling session.
He said: “This group of 10-15-year-olds who were stood on the Barrowfields, looking over the cliff, decided it was a great idea to throw stones at us.”
Mr Fice-Thomson added he was “perplexed” by the behaviour, especially as his group included children and toddlers. When he asked the teenagers to stop, he said he was met with a “barrage of abuse”.
Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed they received a report at around 3.45pm on Sunday, 29th June, of “a number of youths throwing rocks over the cliff edge in the direction of a group of children below on Tolcarne Beach”.
A spokesperson said:
“Members of the neighbourhood policing team have carried out enquiries into the incident.
At this time, there are no viable lines of enquiry, and the report is being held on file but, if further evidence or information comes to light, a further review may take place.
The neighbourhood team will be keeping this incident in mind when carrying out patrols in the area.”
No injuries were reported.
