A Newquay artist has once again been shortlisted for a major art competition. Diane Griffiths, who won the 2024 People’s Choice Award in The British Art Prize, is now in the running for another accolade.
Her latest work, Insert Coin to Begin - a nostalgic painting of an arcade on Cliff Road - has made the top 50 in the SAA Artists of the Year competition, making it eligible for the People’s Choice Award.
She said: "The title, 'Insert Coin to Begin,' invites the viewer into the painting like a game waiting to start. A time capsule of fun and chance, we all have our favourite arcade game. It’s all about that holiday nostalgia of an evening wandering through a seaside town. We even have a fish and chip shop (The Chippy) next to it for sustenance. Voting is now open – I would be grateful and humbled if you would help me once again get my artwork seen by submitting your vote for my painting ‘Insert Coin to Begin’."
