Newquay AFC crashed out of the South West Peninsula Premier League Cup with a 3-0 defeat to Honiton Town, who did all the damage in a one-sided first half at the weekend.
There was better news for St Mawgan, who cruised to a 6-0 victory over Torpoint Athletic at Trevarrian. Craig Allen bagged a hat-trick, while Harrie Tilston added two of his own. Oleksandr Bradbury rounded off the scoring.
It was a day for hat-tricks, as Ross London also netted three in St Newlyn East’s 3-1 win over Pensilva, keeping them top of Division One East in the St Piran League.
In rugby, Newquay Hornets enjoyed a Saturday to remember, thrashing Bodmin 64-12. The win leaves them third in the table, behind Helston and runaway leaders Saltash.
Perranporth remain hot on their heels after an impressive 38-8 victory over St Austell Seconds, setting up a crucial showdown between the two in early April.
Finally, it was a tough day for Newquay Hockey Club, as both the first and second teams suffered defeats. The firsts lost 2-1 at home to Caradon, while the seconds were well beaten 7-2 by St Austell.
