Emergency services, including the Coastguard and fire service, rescued a man from Newquay's Boating Lake on Sunday morning.
Newquay Coastguard have described it as a medical incident. They were called at around 7am, along with the RNLI, to assist the police and ambulance service. Initially tasked to Tolcarne Beach, they were redirected to the Boating Lake after the location was confirmed.
In a statement, they said: "The team removed one casualty from the water and assisted the ambulance service already on scene until the arrival of the critical care team. The casualty was transported onwards to hospital for further treatment."
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 06:52 on Sunday, 9 March, to an incident in Newquay. We sent one double-crewed land ambulance, an operations officer, and a critical care car to the scene. One patient was taken by land ambulance to Treliske Hospital.”
Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called at around 6.50am on Sunday 9 March following a report of a man in the water at Trenance Gardens, Newquay. The ambulance service and Coastguard were also called.
The man was removed from the water and taken to hospital by ambulance."
