Newquay boxer Brad Pauls received a hero’s welcome on home soil this weekend, leading out Newquay AFC with his newly won title belt held high.
Nicknamed “The Newquay Bomb”, Pauls was centre stage ahead of the match, drawing a strong reception from supporters as the Peppermints went on to secure a 3–1 victory over Oldland Abbotonians.
The homecoming comes just days after Pauls stopped Shakiel Thompson in the ninth round to claim the IBF International middleweight title.
The win adds to the British title he captured in 2024 and marks a significant milestone in his rise through the sport.
Born and raised in Newquay, the 33-year-old began his training locally before travelling further afield to pursue his career. He has since re-established himself among the leading contenders in the middleweight division.
The stoppage victory, delivered on a televised card in Manchester, saw Pauls come from behind on the scorecards before producing a decisive finish.
His return to Newquay, belt in hand, was met with a strong reception, reflecting both his personal achievement and the wider support for his success across the town.
