Emergency services were called following reports of an incident on the beach.
The Merrymoor Inn webcam shows emergency services at the scene.
Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed they were called to the beach at 8.24pm, alongside the coastguard and ambulance service.
It's reported that the incident involved a rescue on the beach, with one casualty treated by the coastguard and despite some speculation online, police said the incident involved only one person.
Coastguard Helicopter Rescue 924 was also scrambled to the area with one eyewitness saying it was "low and slow" over the beach.
