Staying connected in today’s digital world can be challenging, but now over-65s in Newquay are being given extra support. A free digital skills session will be held on Friday 28th February, 2-4pm at Trenance Cottages.
Led by Karen Hoyle of Ghost Consulting, this relaxed and informative event will introduce attendees to the basics of social media and artificial intelligence, helping them confidently navigate platforms like Facebook and Instagram to stay informed and engaged. Additionally, a quick overview of AI tools like ChatGPT will showcase how technology can assist with writing, organising ideas, and making everyday tasks easier.
Karen Hoyle, who created and will deliver the session, explains: “I was keen to keep people engaged in communities as I have spoken to many who have missed local events and felt they had become alienated by the way events and activities were now promoted. Technology should bring people together in my opinion, and just a few simple tips should make a difference to people and encourage them to give it a go. AI is also all over the news and very few people are looking at how it can really help the older community. Again, I want to just showcase the ability we now have and how none of it is difficult to embrace.”
The event is completely free, thanks to funding from Tech Cornwall. Attendees can enjoy free hot drinks, cakes, and an information pack to take home for future reference. No prior experience is needed, and there’s no need to bring anything along.
It takes place on Friday 28th February between 2pm-4pm. To register visit: Eventbrite.
