The two week closure is to allow for new track to be laid as part of the Mid Cornwall Metro project.
The work is to allow trains will be able to reach the newly reinstated second platform at Newquay station. The Metro scheme, which is set for completion in 2026, will eventually establish a direct rail link between Newquay and Falmouth.
For the duration of this closure replacement buses will run between St Austell and Newquay, but will not stop at Par. Some car park spaces at Newquay station will also remain unavailable until Friday, 20th December, as Network Rail establishes a site compound.
The GWR website notes that additional work will impact trains for Newquay in February and March 2025.
