Thirteen businesses in Newquay are set to improve their shopfronts thanks to nearly £10,000 of funding.
Newquay Business Improvement District (BID) secured the money from Cornwall Council’s Town Delivery Fund to support a range of improvements, from re-painting to replacing canopies.
The initiative began when a town centre business approached Newquay BID about accessing funding to refresh their shopfront. This prompted Newquay BID to investigate funding availability and assess interest from other businesses in rejuvenating their premises before applying for Cornwall Council funding.
In addition to shopfront improvements, the funding will support the creation of a new storytelling trail aimed at boosting footfall in the Trenance area of the town.
Welcoming the news, Claire Weiss from the Atlantic View Café in East Street said: “We believe it’s so important to keep Newquay’s high street and our business looking clean, modern and eye-catching. We would like to say a big thanks to Newquay BID for their excellent work and constant business support.”
Abigail from Newquay BID added: “It’s been an absolute pleasure to directly support individual businesses by accessing Cornwall Council’s Town Delivery Fund. Thirteen businesses will receive match funding to spruce their premises in time for next summer, and as the businesses in Trenance are a real gem outside of the town centre, it is great to shine a light on them by installing a trail.”
